Q: What exactly can I expect from Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre?

A: You can expect a murder and mystery all in one! The murder theater and dinner starts at 7 p.m. and if you have purchased dinner you will head straight to the buffet line to get your meal. If you have decided not to eat with us, then you will head to your assigned table. Once everyone has been seated, the show will begin. Each murder mystery starts with an introduction to the characters through scenes and original music that fits the mood and sets up the world you’ll be experiencing throughout the show. The scenes that follow set up the characters, and connect the audience to the plot through ‘audience participation characters’ and interactive songs. A murder then takes place, and the audience is allowed to question the suspects (actors) and formulate ideas on who did it, why, and how. Programs handed out before the show contains pictures and bios on the suspects, and room to take notes for all of the information you gather. You will also be given a detective kit with ideas of questions you can ask each suspect, and answer cards for you to fill out and give to the stage manager for a chance to win prizes. Poison Ivy Mysteries' dinner and theater is an exciting way to experience Utah theater.

Q: I have theater gift certificates but don't see a way to redeem them on the website. What do I do?

A: Unfortunately, our system isn't capable of handling the redemption of ticket gift certificates, yet. What you will need to do is either call us at 801-906-8591 or email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let us know your name, how many are coming and that you are planning on redeeming the theater gift certificates. Also, please be aware that unless the theatre gift certificates specifically mentions dinner on it that they are only good for the theater and dinner is not included.

Q: Does dinner take place during the show or do I need to come earlier?

A: The mystery theater and dinner takes place during the show. The doors open at 7 p.m  while all the guests pay and come in, dinner will be served as a one time through buffet (at Famous Daves) or servers will serve you at Christophers Steakhouse.

Q: Does the theater gift certificate cover the cost of the dinner and theater or just the admission?

A: Theater gift certificates purchased from The Happenings Book or Groupon do not cover the cost of the dinner, but can be used for admission.  If you have received a ticket gift certificate directly from Poison Ivy Mysteries and it dictates that it is valid for dinner and initialed by Annelise Murphy, it is valid for the dinner as well.
