Kaitlyn Arquette Murder Mystery - Night of the Murder
Here is an unsolved murder mystery that reeks of police cover up and corruption. Kaitlyn Arquette had recently graduated from high school. July 16, 1989 she was murdered in what the Albuquerque police have called a random drive-by shooting. That is their story and they have refused to investigate it any further. Since the police investigation left so many unanswered questions Kaitlyn's family hired a private investigator and launched their own investigation.
On the night of the shooting Kait stopped by her parents house at 6pm. She told her parents that her friend Sharon had invited her over for dinner that night and she was on her way there. Sharon was a new friend and had given Kait written directions to her house. Kait had also told her parents that she had broke up with her live-in boyfriend, Dung Ngoc Nguyen, and if he called not to tell him where she was. Kait left her parents home at 6:15pm.
Sharon told the Albuquerque Police Department that Kait had arrived at her home at 9:30pm. Later she expended quit a bit of effort to inform Kait's parents that Kait actually arrived at her home around 7pm, having come directly from a 5pm movie at a nearby theater.
Sharon described Kait as being very emotional. She seemed very upset and kept bursting into tears for no apparent reason. Kait had Sharon phone her apartment (where she had been living with her boyfriend) several times, not to talk to Dung, but to figure out where he was. There was never an answer and Sharon called the apartment for the last time at 10:40pm.
Kait left Sharon's home at 10:45pm. While she was driving towards her parents house her car jumped the median and came to rest against a pole. She was found with two gun shot wounds in her head. Kait was in a coma for 20 hours and then died the next evening.
